MICROSOFT Word - LEVEL I

Course content

 The candidate will receive training in using Microsoft Productivity Software, starting from an introductory, intermediate and advanced level. Upon completion, the candidate will be proficient in all three levels of Microsoft  Word.  In Level I, candidates will be introduced to Microsoft Word as the premier software package used for Document Creation.

The candidate will know:


The candidate will understand the essential concepts and the workspace environment that is used to produce documents. 


Skills:


The candidate will be able to: 

  • Will Open, Save and Close documents;
  • Will be able to format characters; and
  • Use Bulleted Lists

LESSON 1: UNDERSTANDING WORD

  • The candidate is introduced to the menu options of Microsoft Word.  The candidate will be able to Create, Save and Close a document.

LESSON 2: PRESENTATION BASICS

  • The candidate will be able to navigate, search, replace and delete text.

LESSON 3: CHARACTER FORMATTING

  • The candidate will be introduced to formatting Text, Styles and WordArt.

LESSON 4: PARAGRAPH FORMATTING

  • The candidate will learn how to format using Bulleted Lists, Multilevel Lists, Paragraphs and Texts.

LESSON 5: MANAGING TEXT FLOW

  • The candidate will learn how to manage text flow using setting Page Layouts, Breaks and Paginations.

REVIEW 1

  • There will be  a review for Lessons 1-4.

MICROSOFT Word - level ii

Course content

In Level II, candidates will continue to Microsoft Word to Create Tables, format Themes, add Graphics and use Proofing Tools for document management.

Learning Outcomes

The candidate will understand how to create, format and manipulate texts within tables


The Candidate's Knowledge:


  • The candidate will understand how to create, format and manipulate texts within tables;
  • Will understand how to choose graphics; and
  • Will understand how to proofread text.


Skills:


The candidate will be able to: 

  • Will add apply formatting to a research paper; and
  • Will be able to insert requisite graphics.

LESSON 6: CREATING TABLES

  • The candidate will learn how to Create, Format, and Manage Tables.

LESSON 7: WORKING WITH THEMES, STYLE SETS, BACKGROUNDS, QUICK PARTS, AND TEXT BOXES

  • The candidate will learn how to format Themes using Style Sets and Text Boxes.

LESSON 8: USING ILLUSTRATIONS AND GRAPHICS

  • The candidate will Insert, Format, Add and Order Graphics to enhance their presentations.

LESSON 9: PROOFING DOCUMENTS

  • The Candidate will learn how to validate content using Spell and Grammar Checking Options, Modify Comments and Reviewing Pane.

LESSON 10: FORMATTING A RESEARCH PAPER

  • The Candidate will able to format research papers using Citations, Captions, headers and Footers.

REVIEW 2

  • There will be  a review for Lessons 6-10.

Microsoft Word- level iiI

Course content

In Level III, the candidate will be proficient in Mail Merging, Macro Usage and Other Advance features of Microsoft Word.

Learning Outcomes

The candidate will understand how to create, format and manipulate texts within tables


The Candidate's Knowledge:


  • The candidate will understand how to create, format and manipulate addresses  within a mail-merge database;
  • Will understand how to apply a macro; and
  • Will understand other advanced features of Microsoft Word.


Skills:


The candidate will be able to: 

  • Will complete a mail-merged document; and
  • Will be able to add other advanced options.

LESSON 11: PERFORMING MAIL MERGES

  • The candidate will learn how to use Mail Merge using similar and different File Formats.

LESSON 12: MAINTAINING DOCUMENTS AND MACROS

  • The candidate will learn how to use different Document Views, Record and Monitor Macros.

LESSON 13: PROTECTING AND SHARING DOCUMENTS

  • The candidate will learn how to protect and share documents using Passwords, Protected Views and version controls.

LESSON 14: USING ADVANCED OPTIONS

  • The candidate will learn Advance Options to personalise Microsoft Word.

REVIEW 3

  • There will be a review for Lessons 11 - 14.
